What I pay attention to…is what I become conscious of…
It may seem to be a simple and, relatively, unimportant distinction…but it is not!
Because, if what we choose to pay attention to…and therefore become conscious of/”believe in”…turns out to be bad for us and for those around us…and we are unaware that it is bad, because we are simultaneously being encouraged/conditioned/socialized to ignore that type of realization and stay “asleep”/ignorant of the results…
Well…as the Maya and all indigenous cultures have discovered…when THAT happens…bad things tend to happen in our reality…and have happened, MANY times, in the ACTUAL history of our species.
The Wetikó virus spreads in horrific ways…which is all the more reason to be aware of its existence…and its influence!
The Mayan culture has spiraled back into our modern awareness over the past 100 years, thanks to a variety of brilliant spiritual researchers, artists, and field scientists.
This has not been an easy task, for sure! These heroic researchers work for years, having to “reverse engineer” information from the more-or-less utterly obliterated artifacts of Mayan cultural wisdom that disappeared with the European conquest of Central and South America…some 300+ years ago, after the Spanish launched a Wetikó-infused assault upon Nojpetén, Central America in March 1697…as they attempted to stamp out the Mayan way of life…and erase any evidence of their cultural wisdom.

I say Wetikó-infused, because TRULY, when one looks into the history of the European Invasion…Conquest…Colonization of the western hemisphere…beginning at the end of the 1400s…and the destruction and genocide that ensued…it is a VERY different story than what one finds in most American history books…
I first learned about the Mayan calendars…and the perspective they engender…in 2014, when I came across one of the most remarkable series of presentations I have ever seen!

As he discusses the various Mayan calendar systems, Ian Xen Lungold brilliantly retells the story of this, largely-unknown, elegant and mystical mathematical method…and in doing so, relates the concepts to the increase in the pace of creation…and to several other fascinating, and mostly unexplored, aspects of human psychology and social dynamics.
Ultimately, he shows us how their system and our personal and societal issues are related to the evolution of consciousness itself… AND…that this evolution is guiding our reality…our society…our way of life…through a MAJOR shift in orientation…one that is already underway in our lives today!
The Maya have multiple measuring devices, what we call calendars, to track the interlocking cycles of energy and time…both physical and NON-physical cycles of energy and time…
Like us, they have a 365.25/day “solar year” calendar, called “The Haab,” (The largest wheel in the image above). Before it went out of general use over 300 years ago, The Haab was primarily used to keep track of the agricultural year, for the purpose of collecting taxes from the transactions of the yearly harvest.
The significant distinction here, though, is that this particular part of their calendar system (The Haab), like our modern Gregorian calendar, was tracking ONLY the movements and cycles of an actual physical object in the sky…our Sun!
Incidentally, this Haab solar “calendar” is actually more accurate than our “Gregorian” system at tracking the physical progression of our Sun through the seasons each year. Instead of adding a leap year every 4 years, they subtracted 13 days every 52 years. The Haab calendar has an error of only 1 day in 6729 years, while our modern calendar has an error of just 1 day in 3236 years (Angel Tenez, 2009).
But I digress…
What is paramount to keep in mind here, from a social and personal perspective, is that if our consciousness, collectively, is oriented towards following a calendar that tracks a physical object ONLY…then one of the subtle effects of that focus, is that we primarily are conscious of the physical realm…ONLY…as the baseline for our existence in this reality. This “physical first” orientation to reality may not be the optimal way to…exist…
Whatever you place the focus upon, the focus then becomes.

Profoundly fascinating to me, is that the Maya (And, as it turns out, most Native/Indigenous American cultures…including groups in North America…like the Cherokee Indians) also have other “meters for tracking cycles of time”…aka calendars…which do not measure anything physically observable, like the Sun or Moon…or even the cycles of the other planets.
Rather…they were following, and aligning with, subtle…non-visible…non-physical…energies!
The Maya tracked a 260-day, repeating cycle of energies called “The Tzolk’in” and a 360-day cycle of energies called “The Tun.”
The Tzolk’in was considered to be the Sacred Personal Calendar of each individual…intently followed on a daily basis.
Whereas the Tun was considered to be a meter of the evolution of creation…yes, you read that correctly…a meter of the evolution of creation…throughout all of time in the entire Universe…
The Tun was The Prophetic Calendar of The People.
An artifact containing records of the Tun calendar was re-discovered near Coba, Mexico in the 1940s and…synchronously…by “sheer happenstance!” In fact…at the time…the archeologists who found this massive slab of carved stone, had basically no idea how to translate the glyphs…no way to decode the story!
But, they did have the foresight to make a permanent record of the glyphs and symbols by immediately tracing its etchings with charcoal.
This was fortunate because after they stood it back up…as the giant stone dried out after lying face down and succumbing to deterioration from the conditions of the Central American jungle…most of its valuable carvings were lost to the combined effects of time, weathering, and erosion. Today, it is nearly impossible to read, or even see, that this stone has an amazing story to tell us!
Nearly fifty years later, however, we had the benefit of a fresh perspective from Dr. Carl Johan Calleman, PhD, a Swedish Material Biologist whose professional career, up until 1993 (When he first visited the Maya Lands), had focused on traditional laboratory science in the areas of cancer research, chemistry, and other environmental science concerns.
After ’93, he became fascinated by the scientific aspects of the Mayan culture. Thus, aided by modern computer-based hieroglyphic translation techniques, he began an independent scientific investigation…to better understand how they performed their methods.
After extensive visits to the highlands of Guatemala throughout the end of the 90s…to confer with the current “Day Keepers”/Mayan “Priests”…he concluded that the Tun calendar had much more to offer than simply a record of days, months and years…which is what are seen in the charcoal rubbing above…a “count” of massive numbers of times that their “calendar” periods/cycles/Ages (ie “Tuns”) had repeated throughout history.
Indeed…what Dr. Calleman re-covered from history is truly remarkable…
According to Mr. Lungold, he and Dr. Callahan combined their efforts in the late 1990’s as well…after discovering each other’s work…and Lungold’s amazing series of lectures was the result.

Ian Xel Lungold died after a battle with cancer, in 2005, so he did not get to witness what has happened since…but Dr. Callahan continues on, helping to further unravel the mysteries of how the Maya were making predictions about this amazing time in history…in which we find ourselves…the dawning of The Fifth Age, as they called it.
Considering the staggering periods of time that the Maya were recording and closely following, Callahan and Lungold deduced that the record actually represented something much deeper and more profound.
By cross-referencing the existing biological, geological, and archeological records of modern science’s timeline for life on Earth, they discovered that the Maya chose to orient themselves around this system, so that they could detect and align with the evolution of consciousness in the universe…
From the beginning of time…into and through their present moment in history…and out into the future… All the way to OUR time, 2011 in particular, and beyond!

In point of fact, the Tun calendar tracked the flow and rate of the evolution of all consciousness in the universe, going all the way back to the dawn of creation, some 16.4 billion years ago. Yes, that’s Billion…with a B!
According to the Maya, this is the evolution of how all of consciousness in creation, but…obviously important to us…human consciousness, in particular, develops and matures.
They believed that the entire process of creation occurred as a series of 9 energetic waves…each of which was divided into equal day and night periods of 6 nights and 7 days. “Hmmmm…wait a second…where have I heard that before???” (Sneeze), “Genesis!”
In exponential fashion, as each new wave began its first day, the duration of each day and night decreased by a factor of 20 from the previous wave’s time cycle.
Thus, the first day of the first wave of creation began approximately 16.4 Billion years ago…presumably with The Big Bang…
Then, it proceeded though its iterations of day and night…each lasting 1.26 Billion years…until the 7th and final day began, approximately 1.26 Billion years ago. (I realize these are ridiculously large numbers to be thinking about…but bare with me here!)
Then, 820 Million years ago, the 2nd wave of creation began and went through its iterations of days and night, represented above as the second level of the pyramid of consciousness. Each wave period being ONLY 63.1 Million years long now, compared to 1.26 Billion years per day/night from the first wave…because the 2nd wave was 20 times faster/higher in frequency than its predecessor!
That’s where the exponential increase becomes apparent…thus the ninth and final wave’s day/night iteration was only 20 days long!
In fact, the entire ninth wave of creation began and completed its first cycle in less than one year…from March 2011 to October 2011!
Further, the other 8 waves of creation began within the final day of that first wave of creation…which was still, also, coming to full completion of its 7th day…until October of 2011.
You can jump ahead to my discussion, in Part 3 of Episode Two, of the fascinating nature of exponential development here. But for now, please understand that “mainstream” science and our “mainstream” media were misunderstanding…in dramatic fashion…the idea that the Maya were predicting the end of the world in 2012.
What the Maya were actually describing…was that all 9 waves of creation, for the first time in history, would be active and synchronized. All of them coming to the completion of their first full cycle of creation…ultimately stretching all the way back to the Big Bang, 16.4 Billion years ago…and all synchronously completing on October 28, 2011. Thus ushering in a “New Age” in history.
The message in the Piscean Age was ‘help me, I want to know.’ In the Age of Aquarius the message is, ‘I know, I can help you to be.’ The psyche has reversed, and life has to be changed accordingly.

For the Maya, what was considering “The Fifth Age,” I believe in “traditional” Western Astrology is represented as The Age of Aquarius!!!”
Foretold to be a time when we would, as a species, develop a global awareness…
A collective…species-unifying…consciousness, deeply rooted in an inner KNOWING that we are all connected to the same source of creation…which is always accessible, collectively, through an alignment with the present moment…
And with that, then, we can move into a state of “conscious co-creation” with one another…and with the Divine agency that has always been present…seemingly working behind the scenes…but ultimately hiding in plain sight…there all along to unify us.
Thus, in choosing this path…this awareness…we will be using our free-will to align with the “fate-guided” Divine Plan…and we then all come into balance with all of creation…and live harmoniously ever after…woohoo!
It turns out that this is the logic behind why the Maya designed their step pyramids to have 9 levels…as a representation of this evolving process of creation!
I think it is fair to point out…here…that the Maya KNEW the approximate age of the universe thousands of years before “modern” science figured out that they were right all along…by scientifically “discovering” and “claiming” that the Big Bang occurred approximately 15-20 Billion years ago…and only proclaiming this in the last century!
As far as we know, the Maya did not even have math formulas to make things easier on themselves…they just counted back one number at a time…until they arrived at 16.4 Billion years ago!!! It would seem…that they just loved to count!
Also significant to me, is that the Maya were able to break down and discern all of this amazing information about the evolution of consciousness…without the “benefit” of “modern” scientific technologies!
The Maya were…and still are (Approximately 8 Million Maya still live in central America today)…a truly magical and mysterious culture!
Their’s is such a meticulously detailed system, that simply attempting to grasp its length and depth has been a challenge for me.
From what I’ve learned…so far…about the 260-day Tzolk’in “calendar,” one of its primary purposes is to allow us to contemplate, and align with, the energy of the particular day we find ourselves experiencing…as a fundamental aspect/orientation of our daily reality.
As each day’s combination of energies is sacred and special, in-and-of-itself, for the overall process of creation, contemplating and meditating on that energy’s purpose…on that day…is how the Maya orient themselves, to show respect, while following the “Sacred Calendar.”
Each day, they dedicate their first actions in the morning towards this practice of contemplation and discernment…and then they go live their lives throughout the rest of the day…aligned with that energy.
The Sun Sign energy of any given day will always be one of the 20 above…following in the same order…from “Crocodile” (Most consider “Croc” the first day, although that is debated too), and then after Crocodile…on around to Wind, Night, Seed, Serpent and so on…ending 19 days later…with “Sun.” As I mentioned earlier, many cultures…besides the Maya…used this system of 20 Sun Signs.
It ends with Sun, because this is meant to display how we transcend our current version of ourselves and “ascend” to become The Sun at the end of that 20 day period…a metaphor for the perfected version of ourselves at that moment in time…spiritually speaking!
Take a few moments to look at these symbols below…which ones most draw your attention, intuitively??? Which of them calls to you inside your heart???
Of importance to mention here…as well…is that on the actual Aztec calendar stone displayed above, the “Crocodile” glyph/Sun Sign is translated at “Light” and the “Sun” glyph/Sun Sign as “Flower.” The idea being, we begin as “primal light,” develop, and transform into a “flower”…which is a representation drawn from the highest evolution in the plant world.
Additionally, each Sun Sign has accompanying animals and/or aspects of nature as totems or “guides” to embody the essential qualities of that Sign’s energy.
As I’m finding it to be in traditional 12-sign Western Astrology, from “Western European” history, there are multiple ways to interpret each of the Mayan Sun Sign/Aspects of creation energy…as there are multiple methods of connecting with the archetypes and energies…and so it is with the Intentions for creation…the numbers 1-13…
Just as it is for the 20 Sun Signs/Aspects of the Tzolk’in…the accompanying 13 numbers are Intentions for, and personalities of, creation energy.
I feel, intuitively, that the 13 numbers of the Tzolk’in are analogous to the 13 signs of the “Western” Zodiac, when Ophiuchus is re-inserted. Ophiuchus…as I’ve mentioned…stands in-between Scorpio and Sagittarius…but that is an elaboration for a later Episode…
The Intention numbers are the fundamental motion of the Tzolk’in system…the 13 Intentions for creation continuously repeat…every 13 days…while driving the Sun Sign “wheel” of 20 to endlessly repeat…every 20 days…in a 260-day Energetic Dance.
…cycles within cycles…
Giving further structure to the 260 days, there are 20 13-day periods…known as a “Trecena”…it is a week for the Maya, every time we move from 13 back around to 1…a new week begins.
Weaving throughout the Trecenas, are the 13 20-day rotations of the Sun Signs…known as a “Uinal”…a month for the Maya. So each Uinal/month begins with “Crocodile” and ends with “Sun.”
The dance of the numbers and Sun Signs…weeks and months…intentions for and aspects of creation…female and male energies intertwining…cycles within cycles within cycles…it is SO beautiful for me to observe and learn more and more…to begin to feel and align with the energies of The Cosmic Dance…The Dance of Creation!
And, of course, this 260-day endlessly repeating process is, ultimately, the foundation which drives the 360-day…endlessly repeating…Tun cycle, which…once understood through, perhaps, 100s of generations of people observing and attending to its larger-scale energies…the Maya were able to backtrack and record all the way to the beginning of time and, also, to look forward and make amazingly accurate prophecies about the future…way out into the future…all from their “aligned” perspective!
So where? When?? How to begin applying this vast awareness of hyper-personal spiritual. psychological and…paradoxically…incredibly broad-sweeping cultural concepts…to our lives???
Towards the end of the movie The Matrix, after Neo has succeeded in rescuing both Morpheus and Trinity from certain death…thus becoming WAY more “Neo-like” in his behaviors…he is still doubting his destiny as the “Chosen One”…so Morpheus explains to him, “Sooner or later, you are going to realize…just as I did…that there is a difference between knowing the path…and walking the path.”
In other words…
Practice makes the master.

SO…we begin today…in the MEOW! Today is 8 Jaguar (August 11, 2017), in the Tzolk’in.
Of the 13 Intentions, 8 is considered a holy and sacred day of balance and harmony with the Divine plan…alignment in the flow, if you will.
And Jaguar…
Jaguar happens to be my Sun Sign. I am 2 Jaguar…
The primary motivation of Jaguar is oriented towards connecting with our inner shaman energy…found easily inside of us through our inherit connection to Mother Earth…Mother Nature.
Her’s is a distinctly feminine energy and Sun Sign…even though the Sun Signs are considered to be the masculine potentials…to match the Intention numbers manifesting as the feminine potentials of creation…but I digress again…
So today is, Divinely, aligned with the energy represented by 8 Jaguar…which…to me…represents the harmony found in connecting to your inner knowing…your intuition…your right hemisphere/creative/female brain…your own shaman energy!
Further, this day falls within the 13-day “Trecena”/week beginning with 1 Deer…and is thus “influenced” by the Deer energy throughout the 13 days. It could be said that Deer’s energy and archetypes are the “ruler/representative/spoke’s-person” of this 13 day period…energetically.
Said about the Deer Trecena:
“To the extent we are vulnerable, so are we Blessed and Empowered by our new Consciousness of Spirit. We have the Spiritual Tool to Stand in our Truth and any other Tool of Spirit we might need along the way.
We can Bring Our Self back into Unity through an Intention of Faith IN SERVICE to the Whole. The Faith we held for our Self will take on the Power of Divinity when it is sought on behalf of the Whole. Deer/MANIK is showing us that our Spiritual Power is Exponentially Greater when it is being Accomplished in Agreement with the Creator.”
As Deer is…among other things…a symbol of spiritual tools, it is synchronous and humbling, for me, to present this offering to you…this final part of Episode ONE…on this particular day. I did not plan it that way…it just aligned that way…as I humbly discerned the flow of my connection to our Divine Unfolding Reality!
I trust that this information about the Maya…and the previous scientific and religious discussions of the first two parts of this first Episode, have provided a decent foundation for where we go in Episode Two…which is into an exploration of the usefulness…and severe abuse and manipulation…of our wonderful “material reality” tool, Science!

You were on your way home when you died. It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me. And that’s when you met me. “What… what happened?” You asked. “Where am I?” “You died,” I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words. “There was a… a truck and it was skidding…” “Yup,” I said. “I… I died?” “Yup. But don’t feel bad about it. Everyone dies,” I said. You looked around. There was nothingness. Different incarnations of you.” “Wait.
